Description
Health Connected’s Puberty Talk curriculum is a comprehensive and inclusive educational resource designed to guide young people through the transformative stage of puberty. As a week-long series of engaging sessions, this curriculum provides a solid foundation for understanding the physical, emotional, and social changes that occur during this pivotal time. By utilizing gender-inclusive language and trauma-informed teaching strategies, all students are encouraged to participate in conversations that normalize diverse experiences and foster a sense of community.
Designed to be taught over a minimum of five hours, each session delves into important topics that are essential for a well-rounded understanding of puberty. Students will explore anatomy and the reproductive systems, gaining valuable insights into the inner workings of their changing bodies. Furthermore, they will learn about the natural processes of puberty to better understand the physical changes that occur and how to navigate them confidently. Students will also explore the importance of personal hygiene, fostering healthy habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
One of the key objectives of the Puberty Talk curriculum is to empower students to seek support and information from reliable sources. Through various activities and assignments, students will be guided to identify their trusted adults, such as parents/caregivers, school personnel, and healthcare providers. By promoting open communication, students are encouraged to engage in conversations with their parents or trusted adults, thus establishing a strong support network during this critical time of growth and development.
Puberty Talk is not just a series of educational sessions; it is a transformative journey that equips young people with essential knowledge and life skills. By fostering a safe and inclusive environment, this curriculum encourages empathy, open-mindedness, and respect for oneself and others. Students will leave the course feeling informed and equipped to navigate puberty with resources and support from their trusted adults and peers.
