Description
Teen Talk High School Refresher (TTHSR) is a supplemental “booster” course of sexual health education (SHE) designed to equip students in grades 11 & 12 with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their sexual health and relationships as they transition from high school into adulthood.
The latest edition of this curriculum was fully updated thanks to a grant from the Office of Population Affairs, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Components of the TTHSR 2024 curriculum include:
- 5 sequential lessons intended to be taught for a minimum of 5 hours over 1 or more weeks
- Aligns with the CA Health Education Code (sections 51930-51939) requirements for grades K-12
- Not intended as comprehensive sexual health education to satisfy the content requirements for grades 7-12
- All new slides and printables, including student worksheets
- Interactive activities that encourage critical thinking, skills practice, and communication with trusted adults
- Gender-inclusive and affirming language to promote respect and empathy
- Emphasis on accessing healthcare, utilizing reliable resources, and self-advocacy regarding health and relationships needs
- Critical discussions about affirmative consent, relationship “red flags,” and explicit media
- Features spotlights on historical injustices, including the Stonewall Uprising, the Tuskegee syphilis experiment, and the eugenics movement in America
