Description
Teen Talk Foster Youth (TTFY) is a virtual, comprehensive sexual health education curriculum designed specifically to help educate youth in foster care outside of traditional school settings. The course is designed to equip youth in care in grades 7-12 with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their sexual health and relationships.
Components of the TTFY 2024 curriculum include:
- 11 sequential sessions intended to be hosted virtually (on Zoom) for a minimum of 10 hours over 2 or more weeks
- Compliant with SB 89 and aligns with the CA Health Education Code (sections 51930-51939) requirements for grades 7-12
- All new slides and printables, including student booklets and instructor scripts
- Supports clarification of values about relationships and sexual health topics
- Provides information about where to obtain sexual and reproductive healthcare
- Encourages communication with trusted adults
- Utilizes gender inclusive language and trauma-informed and healing-centered practice
- Introduces life skills (such as self-advocacy, harm reduction, and media literacy) as well as racial and social justice topics (like intersectionality, health equity, and reproductive justice)
- Designed to promote critical thinking through interactive activities, stories, videos, and discussion prompts
